Apprenticeships


If an employer’s annual pay bill is £3 million or more, they have to pay the Apprenticeship levy. In England these levy payments go into an employer’s online Apprenticeship account, which they use to manage the funding and delivery of their own Apprenticeship programme. If your annual pay bill is under £3 million, you do not have to pay the levy. You will contribute 10% towards the cost of the Apprenticeship and the government will pay the remaining 90%.

However they are funded, employers need companies like pbLearning, who are on the Register of Approved Training Providers, to deliver a wide range of Apprenticeships.

Our specialisms lie delivering management apprenticeship at:

  • Level 3 – Team Leader/Supervisor at funding band 7
  • Level 5 – Operations/Departmental Manager at funding band 9
  • Level 6 – Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship at funding band 15.





Everything we do is about creating a ‘can do’ world in which people do their jobs better and therefore perform better. We use Apprenticeships standards to plan and deliver blended learning programmes to ensure our Apprentices are successful during their end-point assessment.

We can add value too. For example, supporting Apprentices to complete a range of assignments during their Apprenticeship, so they can achieve independent CMI qualifications as part of their end-point assessment.

It’s our ‘can do’ attitude with dynamic delivery and flexible ways of working (as well as the expertise clients would expect) that sets us apart.

We can do funded.

As a levy payer, you have funds to spend, as a non-levy payer the government will fund 90% of the cost of an Apprenticeship.  Either way as funds are available for you to offer your staff Apprenticeships, it would be rude not to!

How we work

We’ve told you that we can do. But how do we do it? Here’s our process.

How we work

1. Explore.

We get to know you, your company and the specific needs and wants you have from an Apprenticeship programme.

2. Engage.

We engage with your staff to make sure that they understand what the Apprenticeship will mean for them and we carry out an initial assessment to tailor the learning so that it’s absolutely relevant for each Apprentice.

3. Contract.

We handle all the paperwork and processing so that each Apprentice can get started. We liaise with the Apprentice and their manager to map out the journey ahead so they understand it fully. We provide the new Apprentice with a dedicated point of contact who will work with the Apprentice across the entire journey.
How we work

4. Organise.

We put in place all the resources Apprentices will need – both online and offline. We take into account any individual needs they may have and offer both guidance and recommendations on various forms of learning to suit.

5. Deliver.

We deliver a fully-supported programme of blended learning that is undertaken outside of the normal day-today working environment to ensure the Apprentice develops the necessary know-how and skills to achieve their Apprenticeship. We provide the Apprentice with all the support and help they need to effectively complete their learning journey.

6. Compile.

Key to completing an Apprenticeship is the development of an Apprentices’ portfolio of evidence. Using our e-portfolio system we will ensure the Apprentice gathers and evidences all the aspects of learning and development they have undertaken – evidence that is key to successful end-point assessment.
How we work

7. Assess.

We support each Apprentice to successfully complete their end-point assessment. This independent assessment ensures the Apprentice has developed sufficient knowledge, skills, competence and behaviours to meet the Apprenticeship standards.

8. Embed.

As they complete their end-point assessment, we help each Apprentice to make best use of their strengths. The action plans we make and the conversations we have provide a road map for their continued development, helping them perform better and continue to add value to the business.
